My whole professional life, I believed that my lack of career fulfilment was due to my failure to complete Chartered Accounting. It was difficult because I had experience as a professional without a degree in the field, but I did not have any first-hand experience. This contradiction made me see that degrees are just costumes. You don’t get confidence from the clothes you wear; it comes from your inner strength and clarity. The confidence doesn’t appear in your day-to-day activities, despite the fact that your costume is extremely pricey. With the help of a mentor, I often felt lost and alone. I recognised that I could achieve more with my existing qualifications and skills if I had a mentor to accompany me. That was the moment I decided to be the mentor I always wanted for myself.
